Potassium sorbate (E 202) is made up of the potassium salt from sorbic acid and is used in cosmetics as well as in the food industry as a preservative. It is considered safe because it is metabolized in the human body into water and CO2. It protects cosmetic products from yeasts and moulds and is very friendly to the skin.
